We are pleased to announce the 2011 PGB White Crane Silat National Retreat in TULSA, OKLAHOMA, USA, from Thursday May 26 to Monday May 30.

When

The dates are Thurs. May 26-Mon May 30th. We chose the Memorial Day weekend in hopes that it would not interfere with people’s work schedules too much, and the weather here in OK would not be too steamy. (It is also before camps start). It was mentioned that our central location would also be a good meeting ground.

  • Memorial Day Weekend
  • Starts: Thursday May 26
  • Ends: Monday May 30
  • REGISTER ONLINE NOW. Deadline is February 28, 2011.

Where

We found a great location at a camp about 1½ hours from Tulsa called Camp Heart O’Hills, www.campheartohills.com (Check it out). It is a Salvation Army camp outside of Tahlequah, OK, at the end of the Trail of Tears, home to many famous outlaws. The area is rich with native history and folklore. It is in a beautiful, woodsy area and the facility is top notch. There is a big gym for training, trails, a large pool, a small lake, nice cabins for sleeping, basketball, volleyball, horseshoe and miniature golf and a playground. (There are also ropes courses, fishing and paintball for extra charges.)

Cost

We are still working to finalize the charges, and our final total with depend somewhat on how many people register. The more we get, the lower our costs can be.

At this point the it looks like it will be about $250 for general retreat, meals, transportation and training (lodging is not included in this price – see housing options below). If you are not training the price is $145 plus housing, this includes children if they are sleeping in a bed and eating. Children 3 and under are free.

Accommodation

There are numerous options and you can see some of them if you go to the website www.campheartohills.com and click on “take a tour”. I will list the different options and some price frames. If you can then email me back your preferences, 1st and 2nd choices, we can see which units we can fill since the prices for everything, except the cottages, are by the building not by the bodies.

Accommodation Options

Cabins

Cabins – (Listed as “cabin units” on the website). These are the least expensive option and best for people who don’t mind sleeping with a group.  Each cabin sleeps 14 people, they are nice, clean, climate controlled and spacious. They have single beds with an area next to the bed to hang and store clothing/luggage. You will need to bring your own bedding. There is a communal bathroom/shower area. Cabins would be segregated by gender. The approximate cost for all four nights would be about $85-100 per person.

Adobe Building

Adobe Building – (Listed as guys or girls staff on the website) This is a building with a number of separate bedrooms, each room has between 2-4 beds for a total of 18 beds. Every 2 rooms share a bathroom. There is a communal living area as well. The approximate cost of this option for all for nights is about $115-125 per person.

Hotel Units

Hotel Units – (Listed as Motels on the website) Are good for people who might want to get together to share a room, families, and those just wanting a little more space and comfort. Each unit has 12 rooms, some with one bed, some with 2.  Each room has a private bath, linens are provided. There is a communal kitchen and living area with TV/VCR/DVD. This Cost is by the room and for all four nights is $240 for a room with one bed, and $340 for a room with 2 beds, (the beds are either queen or full.)

Cottages/Cliff Units

Cottages/Cliff Units – (Listed as Cottage Units on the website) These are also great to be shared by a small group or family. They are the most private and the most expensive. They are 2 bedroom cottages with full kitchen facilities, living area, whirlpool bath and laundry facilities. One bedroom has a queen bed and one has 2 twins. Linens are provided. Cost for all four nights is $520.

Other Thoughts

Anyone planning on arriving or departing the retreat on a different day other than our start and end days will need to find their own transportation to and from the camp.

I would recommend looking into flights early as well as Tulsa is not a hub destination so cheap fares are not easy to come by, and it is around a holiday weekend. Southwest does fly here.

On behalf of the Tulsa group we hope you are able to join us! We look forward to hosting you!!
