What is it?
White Crane Silat is a Martial Art taught through Persatuan Gerak Badan (the Organization for Harmonious Body Movement) based in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia, and with branches in Europe, America, Asia, Australia, and now the UK!
The White Crane represents the school because the Crane is a social animal with balance and grace that only fights in self-defence!
What will you learn?
Training begins with a warm up to develop flexibility & strength and prepares you to begin learning the ‘art’ this includes short movements stances with punches and blocks and kicking, jumping, rolling, and falling. Long movements or forms like tiger, small wave or phoenix, partner exercises to develop feeling for the movement and intention of your partner, as well as your self. Tui Cu or controlled sparring. If you wish you can train harmony or health movements practiced with a focus on sensitivity and suppleness, as well as breath. Your Silat practice will be based upon your own natural ability, your interest and choice!
